OUR STORY

It is incredible how one small idea can grow into something extraordinary. In 2010, colorectal cancer survivor and Blue Hat Foundation founder Candace Henley was inspired by The Red Hat Society to ask her family to wear blue hats to church to raise colorectal cancer awareness. They drew the pastor’s and congregation’s attention, creating an opportunity to share information about colorectal cancer with the community through an event entitled Blue Hat Bow Tie Sunday.

Blue Hat Bow Tie Sunday inspired the creation of the Blue Hat Foundation. The Blue Hat Foundation believes we all have an inherent responsibility to make a meaningful difference in our community. With various active projects, partnerships, and volunteer staff, we harness our skills and resources to achieve our goals successfully.

Since founding in 2015, we have been proud to witness how our activities have benefitted the patient community and beyond.
